Privacy Policy

BlockyCritic is an independent community review site for Roblox experiences. This page explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it. We are not affiliated with Roblox Corporation. This policy is written to be understandable; it is not a substitute for legal advice.

1. What we collect

When you sign in with Roblox, we receive and store:

  • Roblox user ID (the unique sub value from Roblox OAuth)
  • Display name (your Roblox preferred username)
  • Profile picture URL, if your Roblox profile is public

When you write a review, helpful-vote, report content, save a game to your watchlist, or claim a game as a developer, we also store the content or action, the game it refers to, timestamps, and moderation or verification status.

For security, abuse prevention, rate limiting, and review view counting, we may process technical information such as IP address, request headers, browser/session cookies, and server logs.

We do not collect your Roblox password, email address, date of birth, or payment information.

2. Public Roblox game data

BlockyCritic stores public Roblox experience data such as game title, description, creator name, creator type, public stats, genre, icons, thumbnails, and Roblox IDs. We use this data to power game pages, search, categories, review pages, and developer claim verification. This data comes from public Roblox APIs and is not created by BlockyCritic users.

3. How we use your information

  • To show your reviews and ratings on game and profile pages.
  • To let you manage your reviews, watchlist, and developer claims.
  • To automatically screen reviews for spam, harassment, and other policy violations using an AI moderation service.
  • To respond to user reports and moderate the platform.
  • To compute aggregate statistics like average rating, number of reviews, and category popularity.
  • To protect the service from spam, scraping, abuse, and excessive automated requests.

4. Developer claims

If you claim a game, we compare your signed-in Roblox account with the public creator information Roblox returns for that experience. For group-owned experiences, we may check your public Roblox group role and rank. We store the claim status, verification method, role name/rank where applicable, and any admin review notes.

5. AI moderation

Each review you submit is sent to OpenRouter, an AI-routing service, to classify safety, sentiment, and quality. The provider receives the review text and the title of the game it is about. It does not receive your Roblox user ID, account details, or identity. Outputs are stored with your review.

6. Cookies and sessions

We use cookies and similar session storage to keep you signed in, route Roblox OAuth callbacks, remember basic interface preferences, and protect authenticated actions. Blocking cookies may prevent sign-in and account features from working.

7. Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share the minimum necessary with:

  • Roblox, only via OAuth to verify who is signing in.
  • OpenRouter, only the review text and game title for moderation classification (see above).
  • Hosting, database, cache, logging, and infrastructure providers, who process data on our behalf to run BlockyCritic.

8. Public information

Approved reviews, ratings, helpful counts, and your display name are public. Anyone can read them, including search engines. Drafts, deleted reviews, rejected reviews, private moderation notes, and claim review notes are not shown to other users. Verified developer status may be shown publicly on game pages.

9. Retention

We keep your account, reviews, and activity for as long as your account exists. You can delete any of your reviews at any time. If you want your full account and content removed, contact us and we will erase it within 30 days.

Public Roblox game data may remain in our game index and cache even if no BlockyCritic account is associated with it. Roblox API cache entries are kept for up to 7 days. Server logs and rate-limit records are kept only as long as needed for operations, security, and abuse prevention.

10. Your rights

You can edit or delete your own reviews from the My Reviews page. You can also request a copy or deletion of all data associated with your account by contacting us through the link in the footer.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect user data. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we aim to collect only what we need and limit access to operational staff and service providers who need it.

12. International users

BlockyCritic may be operated from, and data may be processed in, countries other than your own. By using the site, you understand that your information may be processed where our infrastructure and service providers operate.

13. Children

Roblox is popular with younger players. To use BlockyCritic you must be old enough to sign in with Roblox and to enter into a binding agreement with us under your local laws. If you are under that age, do not create an account or submit reviews.

14. Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and bump the “last updated” date above. Material changes will also be announced in-app before they take effect.

15. Contact

Questions, privacy requests, or deletion requests can be sent to the contact address listed in the footer.
